Thousands without power after storms move through Michigan

Over 10K without power as of 3:40 p.m. on Sunday, March 16

Rain will continue into Sunday morning and afternoon in Southeast Michigan, but the air will be much cooler behind the cold front. (WDIV)

Thousands of Michigan residents are still without power on Sunday after storms moved through the state on Saturday.

Communities across Michigan saw strong wind gusts on Saturday, March 15, 2025, ranging from 30 mph to nearly 60 mph, causing power outages across the state.

As of 3:40 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2025, thousands of residents still don’t have power.

Consumers Energy reported that there are 10,528 still without power in its service area, and DTE Energy reported that 2,716 of its customers are without power.

Here’s the current breakdown of power outages for Southeast Michigan communities:

  • Genesee County: 950
  • Lenawee County: 182
  • Livingston County: 649
  • Macomb County: 9
  • Monroe County: 4
  • Oakland County: 804
  • Washtenaw County: 39
  • Wayne County: 787

Weather forecast

Winds gusts are expected to be in the 20-30 mph range on Sunday, and temperatures will fall into the 40s.

Temperatures will remain in the 40s on St. Patrick’s Day before rising back into the 60s on Tuesday and Wednesday.
