OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a Holly woman before stealing her credit cards and car with her 16-year-old daughter.
The 58-year-old woman told officers her 16-year-old daughter went to their home on Grange Hall Road with who police said was her 21-year-old boyfriend on March 2 at around 1 p.m.

The 21-year-old man, Joseph Matthew McDonough, allegedly “violently” beat the woman and demanded her car keys.
McDonough and the 16-year-old girl then took the woman’s credit cards and personal property along with her car.
The 58-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.
Holly officers knew the man from his previous police contact and his connections to the Macomb County area. The victim’s car was entered as stolen, and a broadcast was sent to all Oakland and Macomb County law enforcement agencies.
On March 4, Clinton Township police told Holly police that the stolen car drove off during an attempted traffic stop and was later found in a parking lot. The car was impounded, and the suspects were not found.
From March 8 to March 10, two other cars were stolen from a gas station and party store in Holly. Officers used store video to connect the same suspects to both thefts.
On Monday, March 10, Warren police told Holly police that both suspects were arrested after allegedly running away and assaulting an officer.
The 16-year-old girl was lodged at the Oakland County Children’s Village juvenile detention facility and is facing charges of assault, larceny, unlawful driving away with a car and interfering with a 911 call.
She remains in Children’s Village pending a hearing on March 25, 2025.
McDonough was taken to the Macomb County Jail and is facing charges of assault, larceny and unlawful driving away with a car.
His bond was set at $10,000 cash.
All three stolen cars were recovered. Holly investigators said they anticipate additional charges against both suspect and possible accomplices on other stolen cars and related crimes.
