HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 39-year-old man is facing drug charges after a police chase in Macomb County.
It happened early Friday morning, March 14. According to authorities, a sheriff’s deputy was patrolling the I-94 near Metropolitan Parkway when he saw a black BMW cross the center line. When they checked the BMW’s plates, they reportedly found the owner had an active warrant for fraud.

A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver reportedly ignored the lights and sirens and continued driving on I-94 at 60 mph before exiting the highway. The deputy reportedly followed the vehicle on Marketplace Boulevard, Gratiot Avenue and Erb Drive to Chesterfield Township, where the BMW parked and the driver ran on foot.
He was taken into custody.
Drugs were reportedly found on the driver and in the BMW.
Daniele Giannone was charged Monday, March 17, with failure to stop at an accident and operating without security and license plate. On Tuesday, March 18, he was with third-degree fleeing, resisting/obstructing a police officer and two counts of possession of a controlled substance,
He was given a $20,000 bond.
