Suspect in custody after man fatally shot in St. Clair County, police say

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Mich. – A suspect was taken into custody after a man was fatally shot in St. Clair County Monday evening, officials said.

Just before 7 p.m. on March 17, deputies responded to the 5300 block of Gratiot Road in St. Clair Township after receiving a report that a man had been shot.

When they arrived, they “were met by the 24-year-old male suspect,” according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Deputies found the victim, identified as a 56-year-old man, with multiple gunshot wounds.

They performed life-saving measures until EMS arrived, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
