DEARBORN, Mich. – Two teenagers have been arrested after another teen was stabbed in Dearborn on Wednesday night, police said.

The stabbing happened at about 11 p.m. on March 19 in the area of Warren Avenue and Schaefer Road.

Police learned that a group of male juveniles got into an argument with two other teen boys who were walking in the area.

“The argument escalated when several members of the larger group assaulted one of the individuals,” according to police.

One of them then pulled out a knife and stabbed a 16-year-old boy multiple times, before leaving the area.

Officers arrived at the scene within two minutes of being notified of the stabbing and provided first-aid until the fire department arrived.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to be OK.

Dearborn police located and arrested two 15-year-old boys and submitted a warrant request to the prosecutor’s office.

Both suspects are being held at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility.

“While we are relieved that the victim is expected to survive, this incident highlights the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully,” said Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin. “Our officers acted quickly to provide life-saving aid and apprehend a suspect, but we must continue to work together as a community to ensure our young people understand the consequences of violence and choose a better path.”

Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to contact the Dearborn Police Department at 313-943-2241.
