Allen Park man facing charges after family member finds child porn on his phone

A registered sex offender from Allen Park allegedly had several videos of child pornography on his phone, and his family member turned the phone into police once they discovered the videos.

According to court documents, a family member of Timothy Chitwood turned over his cell phone to police in Allen Park on July 16, 2024, saying they found child pornography on it. The family member showed police what they found on Chitwood’s phone, which were multiple videos of pornography involving children.

How Macomb County SWAT successfully arrested man involved in Corewell hospital shooting

Lieutenant Gary Wiegand, the Macomb County Sheriff SWAT Team Commander, talked with Local 4 about how they successfully apprehended the suspect following the shooting at Troy Corwell hospital.

Wiegand said he was on his way to work Thursday morning (March 20) when he received the call that the suspect had been identified as a Macomb Township resident.

“So, at that point, we knew our shooter lives in our patrol area, so now that changes things,” Wiegand said.

Court clears Oxford Community Schools officials from federal lawsuits in connection to 2021 shooting

A federal appeals court panel decided two Oxford Community Schools officials will not face claims they pushed the Oxford High School shooter to violent action before he murdered four of his classmates.

The judges found school counselor Shawn Hopkins and dean Nicholas Ejak did not show callous indifference to the risk the shooter posed before he opened fire in the school.

The Latest: Hundreds of thousands of passengers face flight cancelations as Heathrow closes

Hundreds of thousands of passengers faced flight cancelations at Europe’s busiest travel hub after a fire knocked out power to London’s Heathrow Airport, forcing it to close for the day.

At least 1,350 flights to and from Heathrow were affected already, including several from U.S. cities that were canceled, flight tracking service FlightRadar 24 said.

It was a very “wintry” start to the first full day of Spring with rain and snow showers over most of the region, but we will see some drier weather moves into the region looking ahead into the end of the week.

Dry weather builds in for the end of the week on Friday, expect a mixture of sunshine and clouds throughout the day, before increasing cloud cover Friday evening in advance of a chance of rain and snow showers moving in late Friday night into early on Saturday morning. High temperatures heading back into the lower 50s by Friday afternoon.
