31-year-old pedestrian killed by driver in Monroe County car crash

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A 31-year-old pedestrian was killed by a driver in a Monroe County car crash.

The incident occurred on Thursday (March 20) at 8:30 p.m. on Telegraph Road near Carleton Rockwood Road.

Michigan State Police investigation revealed that a black Ford Escape, driven by a 39-year-old woman from Carleton, was traveling northbound on Telegraph Road when she struck the pedestrian walking in or near the roadway.

The pedestrian, a 31-year-old man from Carleton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford did not sustain any injuries, remained on the scene, and cooperated with troopers.

Telegraph Road was shut down for several hours while troopers conducted an on-scene investigation of the crash.

MSP said they do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a factor in the incident.
