Teens ejected, seriously injured in St Clair County UTV crash

BERLIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Two teen girls were seriously injured Saturday night in a crash involving a side-by-side utility vehicle (UTV).

It happened at about 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Berville and Masters roads in Berlin Township. According to authorities, a 16-year-old girl was driving the UTV westbound on Masters Road when he failed to stop at Berville Road. The UTV then collided with a Chevrolet Equinox driving southbound on Berville Road.

The 16-year-old and a 15-year-old passenger were ejected from the vehicle and taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Details regarding the driver and passenger of the Equinox -- an 80-year-old and an 81-year-old -- and their potential injuries were not released.

Authorities do not believe alcohol, drugs or speeding played any role in the crash.
