TROY, Mich. – The man accused of shooting his former friend at Corewell Health Beaumont Hospital in Troy urinated on funeral brochures for the victim’s father, detectives said.

Robert Paljusevic, 21, was arraigned over the weekend on charges of assault with intent to murder, felony firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon. He is accused of shooting a coworker in the parking garage of Corewell Health Beaumont Hospital in Troy on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

The 25-year-old Troy man was treated for injuries to his arm. He is expected to be OK.

A detective with the Troy Police Department spoke during the arraignment and provided some evidence of the rift between Paljusevic and the 25-year-old.

The detective said Paljusevic was angry in January when the victim’s father died and Paljusevic was not invited to the family’s private viewing.

Paljusevic showed up to the public viewing for the father and made offensive remarks to the body, according to the victim’s mother.

Then, after the funeral, the detective said Paljusevic and the 25-year-old had a FaceTime call. During that call, Paljusevic apparently showed himself urinating on brochures from the victim’s father’s funeral.

“If I do see you outside in public, don’t be surprised if something happens,” Paljusevic said to the 25-year-old during the call, according to the detective.

Coworkers told investigators that Paljusevic is argumentative and “very patriotic for Albania.” They said he is “energetic” and “amped up.”

Paljusevic’s family told police that he has a “short fuse” and “would often argue with people.

Paljusevic and the victim met while working at the hospital about a year ago, and the victim’s mother said Paljusevic became “highly possessive” of her son.

During the arraignment, a not-guilty plea was entered for Paljusevic and he asked for a court-appointed attorney. He was denied bond and will remain at the Oakland County Jail.

He’s scheduled to reappear in court at 9 a.m. March 31, 2025.
