Watch: Police chase ends after Detroit man with suspected stolen marijuana crashes into home

Police believe suspect may be connected to similar burglaries in Metro Detroit

A Detroit man was arrested after crashing into a house following a police chase early Saturday morning.

Police initially responded to a reported burglary at a marijuana distribution facility on Dequindre Road on March 22, 2025, just before 2 a.m.

Officers learned through similar commercial burglaries that a possible suspect was driving a Chevy pickup truck.

When officers and the business owner arrived at the scene, they discovered the burglary happened very recently. Officers began searching the area for any suspects or the vehicle in question.

A Warren police officer tried to pull over a truck that matched the description of the suspect vehicle on Dequindre near I-696, but police said the driver had failed to stop.

The police chase continued into Detroit, where the driver lost control and crashed into an unoccupied home near Livernois and Davidson.

The driver, 29-year-old Dijon Tyree of Detroit, was taken into custody. Police said they found “a large amount” of marijuana inside the pickup truck.

Investigators believe Tyree could be connected to multiple similar burglaries across Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties. They are working with other law enforcement to confirm the connection.

Tyree was charged with delivery/manufacture 45 kilograms of marijuana, conspiracy to deliver/manufacture 45 kilograms of marijuana, breaking & entering a building with intent, conspiracy to commit breaking & entering of a building, receiving and concealing stolen property $20,000 or more, receiving & concealing a stolen vehicle, and fleeing and eluding in the third degree.

According to Warren police, Tyree had an “extensive” criminal history and was a parole absconder.
