Michigan couple wrongfully jailed in maximum security Mexican prison, daughter says

A daughter is fighting for her parents, who she says are wrongfully jailed in a maximum-security prison in Cancun, Mexico.

Paul and Christy Akeo’s nightmare began over unpaid credit card charges at a resort, which they believed had been resolved. Lindsey Hull, their daughter, claims that Palace Resorts breached their contract and is retaliating against her parents.

Macomb County man sentenced for sexually assaulting young girl

A 32-year-old man from Macomb County has been sentenced for sexually assaulting a young girl.

According to authorities, Larry Devere Middleton sexually assaulted a young girl multiple times in 2023. He was found guilty Jan. 17 of two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13, second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13, assault with intent to commit sexual penetration and indecent exposure.

City talks future of Uniroyal site, potential sports complex, WNBA team in Detroit

The city has confirmed to Local 4 that it is in early talks to develop a multisport complex and youth sports academy at the long-abandoned Uniroyal site along the Detroit Riverfront.

The project is part of a larger initiative by Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores, who aims to bring a WNBA team back to Detroit.

If a team comes to the Motor City, the site would serve as the team’s practice facility and headquarters.

Deer overpopulation sparks debate as Metro Detroit community discusses cull plan

Deer overpopulation is causing some serious trouble across Michigan.

One Metro Detroit community came together on Monday (March 24) night to find solutions.

While no decision was ultimately made, many passionate people were inside this special meeting to hear the plan for tackling the issue.

“They would shoot 150 deer. The cull will be performed at night using thermals,” said Farmington Hills Deputy Director for the Department of Special Services, Bryan Farmer.

Weather: Some sunshine, chilly temperatures and breezy winds stick around Metro Detroit for Tuesday

After a cloudy day on Monday with a few rain and snow showers for most everyone, we will bring some much needed sunshine into the forecast looking ahead into the next few days.

High-pressure will build into the region and we will start to dry things out looking ahead into the middle of the week. We will bring a mixture of sunshine and clouds back into the forecast for Tuesday, high temperatures warming back into the low of mid 40s by the time we get to Tuesday afternoon.
