The 2025 D1 men’s ice hockey championship is about to begin. 16 teams from around the country will participate, including two Michigan based teams: Michigan State and Western Michigan.

How do teams get selected for the championship?

16 teams will participate in the 2025 championship. Of those teams, 6 of those are conference champions who automatically qualify. The remaining 10 teams are selected by a national committee.

Allentown Regional (Allentown, Pennsylvania) – March 28-30

First round: UConn vs. Quinnipiac - March 28, 5pm ET

First round: Maine vs. Penn State - March 28, 8:30pm ET

Second round: Allentown Regional Championship - March 30, 4:30pm or 7pm ET

Fargo Regional (Fargo, North Dakota) – March 27-29

First round: Western Michigan vs. Minnesota State-Mankato - March 27, 5pm ET

First Round: Minnesota vs. Massachusetts - March 27, 8:30pm ET

Second Round: Fargo Regional Championship - March 29, 4pm or 6:30pm ET

Manchester Regional (Manchester, New Hampshire) - March 28-30

First Round: Boston College vs. Bentley - March 28, 2pm ET

First Round: Providence vs. Denver - March 28, 5pm ET

Second Round: Manchester Regional Championship - March 30, 4;30pm or 7pm ET

Toledo Regional (Toledo, Ohio) - March 27-29

First Round: Boston University vs. Ohio State - March 27, 2pm ET

What comes after regionals?

Frozen Four Semifinals (Saint Louis, Missouri) - April 10

Manchester Regional Champion vs. Fargo Regional Champion

Allentown Regional Champion vs. Toledo Regional Champion

The order of the games is still to be determined, but we know the options are either 5pm or 8:30pm ET.

The final round, the Frozen Four National Championship in Saint Louis, Missouri is on April 12 at 7:30pm ET.
