Mackinac Bridge reopens following severe ice closure

Closure was the second time since March 29 that the bridge was closed due to ice

The Mackinac Bridge Authority said the falling ice warning on the bridge has been cleared and wished travelers a safe and pleasant trip.

MACKINAW CITY, Mich. – The Mackinac Bridge Authority said the falling ice warning on the bridge has been cleared and wished travelers a safe and pleasant trip.

The announcement occurred on Tuesday (April 2) on their X account.

The bridge was closed Monday, March 31, 2025, due to the falling ice.

The incident was the second time since March 29, 2025, that the bridge was closed due to ice.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority prohibited all vehicles from the bridge while ice remained an issue.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority posted on social media that Monday’s ice was “the worst we’ve ever seen on the bridge.
