DETROIT – The Detroit People Mover provides a free way for Tigers fans to get around downtown for Opening Day on Friday, April 4.
There are thirteen stations, and each has touchscreen kiosks that allow guests to map and locate restaurants and bars nearby. Digital monitors also display wait times, with automated trains arriving at stations about every five minutes, according to a release from the Detroit Transportation Corporation.
Each station is shown on the map at the top of this article, but you can visit the People Mover’s website for specific details on each station and what’s located nearby. There is also a park and ride tool for fans to find parking lots located near the stations. Trains will operate from 6:30 a.m. to midnight on Friday.
Detroit People Mover Transit Police and event volunteers will be stationed throughout to assist fans. Fans headed to Comerica Park will exit at the Grand Circus Park Station.
In addition, to celebrate Opening Day, the band Saxappeal and The Cru will play from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Broadway Station.
“The People Mover is ready to make April 4th a special, opening day in Downtown Detroit, so fans should grab their jerseys, gather friends, and use the advantage of traveling above the traffic on us to have an amazing time until midnight,” said Ernest Latham, Deputy General Manager, Detroit Transportation Corporation.
