Police said three hours later, they responded to Magnum Force, located in the 400 block of E. Front St., for an in-progress breaking-and-entering (B&E).
Officers arrived, located the teen, and took him into custody. He was identified as a 17-year-old from Monroe.
Police said the teen caused significant damage to the business’s front door but could not gain entry.
Evidence at the scene linked the teen to the crime, and video footage also identified him as the perpetrator.
The juvenile was later lodged at the Monroe County Youth Center.
Further evidence collected at the scene and video footage from the earlier vehicle larcenies and B&E incidents suggest that this offender was directly involved in both incidents.
He was also found to possess numerous credit and debit cards, believed to have been stolen from other vehicles that have yet to be reported.
If you discover your vehicle has been entered or items are missing, you must report the incident to local authorities immediately.
Anyone affected by these crimes is asked to contact the Monroe Public Safety Department’s Central Dispatch at 734-243-7070.
MPSD is reminding citizens that it is essential to keep unattended vehicles locked, which significantly reduces the chances of falling victim to theft.
