Employee dies after workplace accident at Stellantis plant in Monroe County

DUNDEE, Mich. – A worker has died at a Stellantis plant in Monroe County early Monday morning.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said a 62-year-old Detroit man was seriously injured by a machine while working on the assembly line at the automaker’s Dundee Engine Plant on April 7, 2025, just before 1:30 a.m.

The man was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, where he later died from his injuries.

Stellantis is not confirming the employee’s identity out of respect for the family.

The workplace accident was reported to MIOSHA for investigation.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends and coworkers of a Dundee Engine Plant employee who was involved in a fatal workplace accident this morning. The Company is currently working with local authorities to investigate the incident. Out of respect for the family, we are not confirming the identity of the employee at this time. Counseling services will be available for Dundee Engine Plant employees.”
