EASTPOINTE, Mich. – A police chase involving a suspected stolen car ended in a crash in Eastpointe early Monday morning.
The crash happened just before 4 a.m. on April 7 on westbound I-94 at 9 Mile.
The police chase began in Sterling Heights, where a resident reported their car was being stolen from their driveway in the area of Metropolitan Parkway and Dequindre Road.
As officers were searching the area, they found the suspected stolen car. According to police, the driver appeared to be attempting to elude the officers, leading to a police chase.
Officers tried to stop the car by using stop sticks twice but could not slow the car down.
The chase went through Warren, onto eastbound I-696, then I-94.
According to Sterling Heights police, the driver lost control of the car and crashed.
The driver, a 27-year-old Detroit man, was ejected from the suspected stolen car. Police said he is in critical condition.
All lanes on westbound I-94 at 10 Mile are closed as police investigate the scene.
