Detroit woman allegedly fled Michigan after stabbing dog, streaming attack on social media

Woman extradited, charged

DETROIT – A Detroit woman is facing charges after she allegedly stabbed her dog multiple times and live-streamed a video of the attack on social media, officials said.

Jordan Love, 29, has been charged with second-degree killing/torturing animals and abandoning/cruelty to four to 10 animals, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

The video at the top of this article is from when the stabbed dog and the other animals were rescued from the home.

Detroit Animal Control officers responded to a home in the 15200 block of Manning Street after receiving a report of a dog stabbing.

When they arrived, they forced entry into the house and found a dog with multiple stab wounds to its torso in the basement, the prosecutor’s office said.

Officers also rescued other animals, and in total, removed three dogs and four cats from the house.

Love is accused of stabbing the dog multiple times and streaming a video of the dog on Facebook Live at around 1 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 7.

Sometime after the stabbing, Love allegedly fled Michigan. She was located in Greenville, South Carolina, on Thursday, March 20, and extradited to Michigan.

“The WCPO has always taken the abuse of animals very seriously,” said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy. “We have impacted legislation and have been proactive with the applicable laws - seeking and fighting to change them in many instances. Although we never really anticipated the alleged brutally and cruelty that this case represents, as a result of our earlier efforts, this case is a clear representation of why better laws were needed.”

Love was arraigned on Thursday, April 10, and given a $50,000 cash/surety bond. If released, she must wear a GPS tether. A bond re-determination hearing is set for April 14.

Her probable cause conference is scheduled for April 21, and her preliminary examination is set for April 28.
