WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. – A foot chase through rush hour traffic by a phone theft suspect ended in an arrest in West Bloomfield.
The pursuit occurred on Friday (April 11) at 5 p.m. at 4301 Orchard Lake Road at a Verizon Wireless store.

A caller told police that a man had stolen two cell phones from the store located in Livonia and then went to the West Bloomfield store to attempt to activate them.
Officials said the man ran out of the store when they arrived on the scene.
Police said the man led numerous officers on a foot chase through the parking lot of the plaza, across Orchard Lake Road during rush hour, and ultimately was taken into custody by a combination of police from both Orchard Lake and West Bloomfield Police Departments in the area on the other side of the roadway.
No injuries were sustained by the man, any bystanders, any motorists, or any police officers during this incident.
