All Things Detroit Day brings shopper’s paradise to Eastern Market

Event features small businesses

DETROIT – A shopper’s paradise with a local flair is tucked away in Eastern Market.

All Things Detroit Day is hailed as the premiere event for small businesses and best place to discover Michigan’s best-kept secrets.

More than 200 small businesses showcased unique gifts, clothing, household goods and gourmet food on Sunday.

At Eastern Market, the atmosphere felt electric.

“It’s the best of the best of Michigan,” said Jennyfer Crawford-Williams, who founded the event more than a decade ago.

All Things Detroit Day serves as a one-stop shop where shoppers spend hours marveling at one-of-a-kind products from skincare to home décor to clothing. The event also highlights community groups doing good work, such as the Detroit Dog Rescue.

Detroit sports are also front and center as the Pistons head into the playoffs. The team gave away basketballs to early birds who arrive before the doors open.

Mary Julian, a shopper from Fraser, loves the shopping day.

“The atmosphere. All Things Detroit promoting all the people here – trying to make a living,” Julian says.

She brought a group of family members to enjoy the day, moving from booth to booth in search of special purchases.

The shopping day is projected to attract roughly 14,000 people from across Metro Detroit. Amid heightened trade talks, shoppers are reconsidering their spending habits, making this premier event at Eastern Market a vital opportunity for small businesses around the Great Lakes State.

“People are really thinking and being intentional local because of what’s happening in the world, so this is really our opportunity to really put ourselves out there and let people know that we’re here,” Crawford-Williams said.
