Rogers announced his bid for U.S. Senator Gary Peters’ seat after he announced in January that he wouldn’t seek another term.

The former Republican U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 8th congressional district ran for U.S. Senate in 2024 but lost to U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin by a small margin.
State Senator Mallory McMorrow (D) also launched her campaign for Peters’ seat in early April.
Born and raised in Livingston County, Rogers’ goals, if elected, include “bringing manufacturing jobs back home, lowering the cost of gas, groceries, and prescription drugs, protecting seniors’ social security and Medicare, and setting our kids up for success by prioritizing education, not indoctrination.”
Prior to serving as a Michigan representative, he served in the U.S. Army from 1985 to 1989 and worked as a special agent in the FBI.
“It was Michigan that sent President Trump to the White House — and it will be Michigan that sends him the backup he needs in the U.S. Senate,” said Rogers in a statement early Monday morning.
