Oakland County mom accused of abandoning kids in filthy home for years due in court -- Here’s why

A Pontiac mother accused of abandoning her three children to live in a filthy home alone for years is expected to go in front of a judge Tuesday.

Kelli Bryant, 34, of Pontiac, is facing three counts of first-degree child abuse after authorities found her three children — a 15-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl, and a 12-year-old girl — living alone. She also faces welfare fraud charges.

A probable cause conference is set for April 15, 2025, at 2 p.m.

Detroit Metro Airport introduces autonomous wheelchairs

Travelers at Detroit Metro Airport will have access to autonomous wheelchairs as part of a new pilot program to improve accessibility.

The Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA) partnered with Unifi to offer WHILL autonomous wheelchairs in the Edward H. McNamara Terminal as an option for travelers who have difficulties walking long distances or navigating the airport.

A key hearing for a man serving a 30-year prison sentence for a fire that killed Detroit firefighter Walter Harris is expected to happen Tuesday.

Mario Willis was convicted of second-degree murder and arranging an arson that killed Harris in 2008. However, there has been a fight to overturn the conviction.
