DoorDasher accused of violently attacking Macomb County restaurant owner twice

Bond conditions questioned after violent restaurant altercation

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – Prosecutors are pushing to revoke or increase the bond given to a 20-year-old man accused of assaulting a business owner.

Daveon Jahmel Godbold was charged with five counts of unarmed robbery, assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer, delivery/manufacture of marijuana, malicious destruction of property and aggravated assault.

According to authorities, Godbold was working as a DoorDash driver when he became violent with the owner of Amigo Street Tacos in St. Clair Shores after being denied a food order because of a dispute over an out-of-order restroom. He reportedly attacked Jose Perez, left, and returned later with a friend to continue the assault.

Godbold was granted a $25,000 personal bond with GPS tether required, no contact with the victim or the victim’s business, allowing his release without having to post any cash or surety. The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office is pushing for the bond to be revoked, replaced with a high cash or surety-only bond and a steel cuff GPS requirement.

A judge will hear the bond motion at Godbold’s probable cause conference on April 22.
