MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A shooting near a basketball court in Monroe County has prompted a heavy police presence.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (April 16) at 7:51 p.m. when Monroe County Central Dispatch received several 911 calls regarding shots fired in the 6100 block of Greenwycke Lane, near a local basketball court.

Police from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said they arrived quickly on the scene to begin their investigation when it was determined that one or two shots were fired in the area.

The investigation is ongoing, and deputies remain on the scene. Officials believe the incident was isolated, and the public is not in danger.
