DETROIT – The clothing retailer Free People is opening a store in Downtown Detroit next week.

The store is set to open in the Bedrock-owned building at 1425 Woodward Avenue on Friday, April 25, 2025.

It will carry a variety of denim, knit tops, dresses, jewelry, hair accessories and more, according to a joint release from Bedrock and Free People.

The store will also offer people personalized shopping experiences with expert stylists, which is offered at all Free People locations.

“Welcoming Free People to downtown Detroit reflects the continued momentum and energy shaping the city’s retail landscape,” said Bedrock’s VP of Leasing Jennifer Skiba. “This opening is not just about a new store—it’s about bringing fresh style, creativity and vibrancy to Detroit and they are a fantastic addition to Woodward Avenue.”

The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

The Philadelphia-based retailer was founded in 1984 and has two stores already open in Metro Detroit.

There’s a Free People Movement at Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi and a store at Somerset Collection in Troy.

Outside of Metro Detroit, Free People also has a location in Grand Rapids.
