According to the prosecutor’s office, the victim’s family identified Clark as the suspect from video evidence and said that the two men were friends.

“This should not have happened,” said Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren. “They were friends for decades.”

In the video, it appeared Clark hit Clora with a glass bottle, leading Clora to fight Clark and try to get the knife out of Clark’s hands.

A witness captured the altercation between the two that led to the deadly stabbing. Police provided screenshots from the video that was taken during a press conference on April 22, 2025.

The video will not be provided out of respect for the victim’s family.

A bystander tried to stop the two from fighting. Once the victim got up, Clark allegedly stabbed him in the heart area.

Clark was later arrested. According to the police chief, he offered a guilty plea during his arraignment.

He faces up to 15 years in prison.

“What kind of friend would do this?” said Clora’s sister during the press conference on Tuesday.

Clora’s family was at the press conference and spoke greatly of him, saying he was a kind man and was loved by his family, including his wife, children and grandchildren.

Clora’s sister also took some time before the press conference ended to thank the bystander who tried to stop the two from fighting before Eddie was fatally stabbed.
