DETROIT – It was a scary scene at Little Caesars Arena after Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin appeared to lose consciousness after a hit to the back of the head during Saturday’s game vs. Ottawa.
Larkin was hit in the first period, into the back of the head and then crunched by another player as he fell to the ice. He appeared motionless, laying on his stomach, for about a minute.

Red Wings players and training staff rushed to Larkin on the ice to administer medical attention.
A stretcher came out to transport Larkin off the ice, but he was helped up by teammates and slowly skated off the ice into the locker room for further medical attention.
The Red Wings said Larkin was being evaluated by medical staff and would miss the rest of the game.
UPDATE: Dylan Larkin continues to be evaluated by Detroit’s medical staff. He will not return to tonight’s game.

The Red Wings lost the game to the Senators, 5-1, their second-straight loss.
