The Detroit Pistons are releasing guard Killian Hayes on NBA Trade Deadline day after apparently not finding a trade partner.

Hayes, the team’s No. 7 pick in 2021, was released on Thursday just an hour before the 3 p.m. deadline. The news was reported by Shams Charania.

Hayes never really got going in Detroit, despite being a solid defensive player. He was never able to develop reliable shooting and fell out of favor over the last month due to the lack of offensive production.

The Pistons were looking to trade Hayes, but couldn’t find any takers.
