PHOENIX – According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart punched Phoenix Suns forward Drew Eubanks ahead of their matchup.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (Feb. 14) in the back tunnels of Footprint Center on a day in which love is supposed to be displayed.

Sources familiar with the situation said Stewart and Eubanks were nose-to-nose before the Pistons big man connected with a punch to the mouth.

There is no word on how the incident occurred, but according to reports, Eubanks was warming up before the altercation.

Reports say the police were called to help break up the scuffle.

Eubanks told reporters that words were exchanged while he was coming into the arena, causing security to intervene.

The 6′10″ big man called it a “Soft Punch”.

Stewart has been out of action since the end of January as he recovered from an ankle injury.

The NBA veteran joined the Pistons during their West Coast road trip with plans of returning after All-Star Weekend, but after the Valentine’s Day kerfuffle, he may be out even longer.

Stewart was seen leaving the arena around 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. NBA league officials are working on getting video from the tunnel for review.
