DETROIT – The newest member of the Detroit Lions stole the show during the first round of the NFL Draft when he grabbed the mic and addressed more than 275,000 elated fans.

Detroit’s sea of Honolulu Blue has never looked more impressive than it did on Thursday night. Lions fans broke the attendance record for the first round, even though gates closed hours early because the area reached capacity.

Since they made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game last season, the Lions had to wait for pick No. 29 to make their selection. At least, that was the situation coming into the night.

Lions fans knew general manager Brad Holmes wasn’t going to wait around if he had a chance to snag a player he really likes. That’s exactly what happened when Terrion Arnold dropped into the early 20s.

Holmes sent a third-round pick to Dallas to move up five spots and land Arnold, one of the top cornerback prospects in the draft.

Fans went bonkers. But that roar was nothing compared to when Arnold took the mic on stage.

“I’m home, man,” he said. “I’m home. Hey, these fans are gonna be crazy, man. Golly.”

Arnold was asked what he’s going to do to help the Lions reach their goal of winning a Super Bowl.

“You already said it: I’m gonna help them win a Super Bowl,” Arnold said. “It’s amazing, man. We’re gonna go crazy.”

I mean, just listen to this video. It was electric. Lions fans absolutely showed out.
