The Detroit Red Wings have signed Lucas Raymond to an eight-year contract extension, locking up one of the team’s young stars through 2032.
Raymond and the Wings had been talking about a long-term extension all off season, but now the deal is done. The Red Wings said they will pay him an AAV of $8.075 million, totaling $64.6 million.

In three seasons with Detroit, Raymond has scored 71 goals, and tallied 103 assists, including 31 goals and 41 assists last season.
Raymond led the Wings in points with 72 last year, right behind the captain, Dylan Larkin.
Raymond became the first Detroit skater to lead the team in points at season’s end at age 22-or-younger since Larkin, who did so in 2017-18 and 2018-19. Raymond is also the fourth Red Wings player in the previous 30 years to score at least 30 goals in a season at age 22-or-younger, joining Larkin (32 in 2018-19), Vyacheslav Kozlov (34 in 1993-94) and Keith Primeau (31 in 1993-94).
The Wings are expected to compete for the playoffs in the upcoming 2024-2025 season, which starts in October.
