Loyal Detroit Lions fans struggle with steep increase in season ticket prices

Season ticket prices rise sharply for second-straight year, fans say

DETROIT – Undoubtedly, Detroit Lions fans are excited about this year, but those jaw-dropping season ticket prices for 2025?

Not so much.

There’s no denying the Lions are on fire (11 wins in a row, to be exact), so fans knew there could be an uptick in ticket prices for next year. However, some season-ticket holders are questioning whether they should renew their seats.

“I was a little bit, kind of, just because this year they raised my ticket prices 120%,” said George Nikollaj, owner of 6 Salon. “Now, another 20-something percent.”

Nikollaj and his partner remember the days of being faithful season-ticket holders during the Lions’ winless season.

In fact, another fan said not once did they consider dropping their tickets when the team was 0-16. So they were shocked to see next year’s tickets jumped by 38%, in addition to the roughly 40% from last year.

For some fans, like Ron “Crackman” Crachiola, they say this is the season they’ve dreamt about for years.

“This is something I’ve never seen before in my lifetime,” Crachiola said. “It is what it is. You know, you want to enjoy it. Pay the price.”

In other words, he believes winning costs something. After all, top-tier talent requires top dollar.

Nikollaj gets it. It’s just hard to accept.

“The team looks great, downtown looks great,” he said. “But, you have to be somewhat good to all the people who stuck around when it wasn’t so great.”
