DETROIT – The Detroit Lions have promoted an assistant coach to become their new defensive coordinator.

Linebackers coach Kelvin Sheppard is expected to replace Aaron Glenn as the Lions' new DC, according to multiple reports.

Sheppard joined the Lions in 2021 and has quickly risen through the defensive coaching ranks for head coach Dan Campbell.

The Lions lost Glenn this week when he accepted the head coaching job for the New York Jets.

Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson still hasn’t been replaced.
