Initially, Schröder was part of the five-team deal that sent him, Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, and a protected first-round pick to the Miami Heat for disgruntled NBA star Jimmy Butler to the Warriors.
Then more news grew as Schröder was headed to the Jazz and Anderson was headed to the Toronto Raptors.
Then, the Pistons joined the trade party by acquiring Lindy Waters III from the Warriors and Richardson from the Heat in a multi-team deal.

Now that the dust has settled, the Pistons have found their backup point guard in Schröder, 31, who is averaging 14.4 points and 5.5 assists while shooting 41.8% from the field and 35.8% beyond the arc this season.
The Pistons needed some much-needed help in the backcourt, as Jaden Ivey is still nursing a lower leg injury.
Pistons head coach J. B. Bickerstaff said the three-year-guard was progressing and continuing to meet with doctors.
With that in mind, Schröder’s veteran presence, leadership, and name cache could help the Pistons clinch the sixth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference or at least be in the play-in tournament as they currently sit in the seventh spot at 25-26.
