DETROIT – According to reports, the Detroit Pistons have acquired Lindy Waters III and Josh Richardson in a five-team trade with the Golden State Warriors, the Miami Heat, the Toronto Raptors, and the Utah Jazz.

According to ESPN Senior NBA Insider Shams, the players were involved in the blockbuster deal that sent former Heat forward Jimmy Butler to the Warriors for Andrew Wiggins, Dennis Schroder, Kyle Anderson, and a protected first-round draft pick.

After the initial announcement involving the Pistons, Warriors, and Heat, Charania reported that the Jazz and the Raptors were also involved.

The Jazz acquired Schroder, and Anderson is headed to the Raptors while sneaker king P.J. Tucker is reuniting with the Heat.

The Pistons needed some much-needed help in the backcourt, as Jaden Ivey was still nursing a lower leg injury. J. B. Bickerstaff said the three-year-guard was progressing and continuing to meet with doctors.

The Pistons acquired the son of former No. 1 pick Kenyon Martin Sr., K. J. Martin, and two draft picks in a trade earlier Wednesday (Feb. 5) from the Philadelphia 76ers, per Marc Stein.

Waters III averaged 5.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists while shooting 37.1% from the field with the Warriors this season.

Richardson averaged 4 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists while shooting 28.9% from the field while playing for the Heat this season.

Although both players have made minimal impacts on their respective teams, look for them to get some run for the up-and-coming Pistons, who are battling for a playoff spot this season.

Not to mention, the Pistons have enough cap space and motivation to take on salary and make minor improvements to an already solid roster.
