DETROIT – The spring training game between the Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies is on TV today.
NOTE: The start of the game was delayed due to weather, but it started around 2:30 p.m.
When the Tigers released their spring broadcast schedule in February, Wednesday’s game against the Phillies was listed as being only on the radio -- station 1270 AM.
But the game will also be televised nationally on ESPN, which means fans can watch it online via Watch ESPN.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. Wednesday at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida.
Reese Olson is scheduled to start for the Tigers, with Will Vest, Tyler Holton, and John Brebbia also expected to get in from the MLB roster. Matt Manning and Tyler Owens are also on the docket.
Detroit is 4-6 in Grapefruit League play after Tuesday’s 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. The record doesn’t really matter, obviously, and the team’s two most meaningful losses so far are the injuries to Parker Meadows and Matt Vierling.
Vierling is not expected to be ready for Opening Day. The timeline for Meadows seems to be murky.
