DETROIT – You might know Andy Dirks because he played outfield for the Tigers from 2011-2013. But now you’ll know him as the team’s primary TV analyst.
The Tigers announced earlier this month that Dirks and former pitcher Dan Petry will be the two primary analysts alongside play-by-play voice Jason Benetti for the 2025 season.
Dirks, who spent most of last season on the radio broadcast, joined Detroit Sports+ on Monday, March 10, to talk about spring training so far and what he’s looking forward to in the regular season.
Among the topics we discussed: Spencer Torkelson’s quest to make the Opening Day roster, a deep starting rotation, the closer position, replacing the injured Parker Meadows and Matt Vierling, and his days wearing the Old English D.
