The 27-year-old played his entire career with the Lions, who selected him in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft.
Onwuzurike played in 16 games during the 2024 season while starting in 10 for the injury-depleted Lions defensive unit last season.
He now rejoins Penei Sewell, Alim McNeill, Derrick Barnes, and Amon-Ra St. Brown as the key five members the Lions selected in the 2021 draft class.
Onwuzurike played in 16 games as a rookie but missed his sophomore season due to a back injury.
Onwuzurike played in 10 games during his third year as a rotational piece, but he played his best ball last season, accumulating 28 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.
