The role

As a Multimedia Journalist for Live In The D you will be responsible for daily lifestyle content that’s focused community experiences. You will produce multiple stories weekly that include pre-produced stories and live in studio/in field segments. You will work hand-in-hand with Live In The D producers to achieve show initiatives and executive integrated sales initiatives. You will also showcase your shooting and editing skills on pre-produced pieces, and be the camera operator during active live shots. As Multimedia Journalist you will also write for Live In The D’s webpage on the number one website in Detroit, ClickOnDetroit.com. You will have the responsibility of bringing a positive, collaborative attitude to work, and be ready to invest in and reflect the pillars of our station which are Integrity, Teamwork, Passion, and Innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Produce pre-produced and live segments for Live In The D.
  • Edit your own stories using station software.
  • Write articles for the Live In The D page at ClickOnDetroit.com, the top website in the market.
  • Work with station clients to produce segments that both meet their content goals and support the integrity of Live In The D.
  • Assist the show as needed with guests and setups in studio. This includes helping them bring items to and from the studio as needed to assist with setup.
  • Work with others across the programming department to offer support as needed.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience in a Multimedia Journalist or Reporter position.
  • Able to shoot your own stories and haul station provided equipment. Which includes a production camera, tripod, and lights when necessary.
  • Able to run live shots as needed for the show using Live U technology. This includes using/carrying Live U backpacks and being nimble enough to move around in environments to provide the best shots for a live event.
  • Excellent writing skills for both on-air and online.
  • An in-depth knowledge of editing.
  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on a lifestyle program.
  • A preferable academic background in broadcast journalism, broadcast news, or a related field.
