The bike was custom made for Leland Kraft -- a 12-year-old boy who was born with cerebral palsy -- so he could ride with his sisters. U-M police: Bicycle theft increasing in Ann Arbor

Detroit police officers fulfill promise of getting new bikes for sisters who were sharing one
DETROIT โ Officers from the Detroit Police Departmentโs second precinct recently surprised two young sisters with new bikes. It all started when officers stopped by a business to purchase ice cream. While they were waiting in line the girls passed by and the officers offered to purchase them ice cream. Thatโs when the officers promised the sisters that they would work on buying them new bikes. The Detroit Police Departmentโs second precinct collaboratively worked together and fulfilled that promise.
Bike built for boy with cerebral palsy stolen from Shelby Township home
SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A family in Macomb County is asking a thief to return a stolen bike -- no questions asked. Itโs no ordinary bike -- it was built specifically for their 12-year-old son with cerebral palsy so he could ride with his sisters. โThe bike itself was bought because he canโt really do a two-wheel,โ said Jennifer Kraft. Like Leland, the bike was one-of-a-kind -- a tricycle built and modified so he could join his sisters on their rides. โIt was more so about his independence,โ Nicholas Kraft said.

Ann Arbor Velo Club uses bike bingo to motivate members, support small business sponsors
The Ann Arbor Velo Club has created AAVC Bingo to keep its members motivated and moving during the COVID-19 pandemic. The bingo game is simple: Download an AAVC Bingo card and do five consecutive activities. Activities range from making bike ride Strava art to ordering food from an Ann Arbor Velo Club sponsor. AAVC Bingo is the Ann Arbor Velo Clubs second challenge during the pandemic. Corle said that the cycling club is likely to have more events in the future, including different ride challenges.
