More sunshine on the way for Metro Detroit to end weekend
After a nice day with a mixture of sunshine and clouds, we will keep the dry weather going as we head into the evening and overnight hours tonight, some of that cloud cover sticking around thanks to Post-Tropical Cyclone Ian well off to our southeast.
Metro Detroit weather: Brighter Saturday with isolated showers and storms possible
Showers and storms are possible again Saturday. They will be more widely scattered and less frequent than yesterday or earlier this week. Weโll experience more sunshine and warmer than average weather is here to stay for the holiday weekend.
Metro Detroit weather: Temperatures tumble Tuesday night to coldest point in more than 2 years
DETROIT โ Temperatures tumble tonight to our coldest point in more than two years. Temperatures will tumble to their lowest point since February 2019. But a lot of areas (if not most) outside the Metro Zone are on their way to negative numbers for overnight lows. Hereโs some hope: temperatures will be on a slow, steady rise from that point into early next week. Past that point, we can actually look for some above normal temperatures.
Metro Detroit weather: Chilly Saturday with a curtain of clouds
MLK Day will still be chilly with a healthy amount of clouds. Scattered flurries and light snow showers develop mainly north of 8 Mile Road. Metro Detroit weather: November warmth streak ends soon
DETROIT โ We made it four in a row for records Tuesday, with our warmest day of this streak. But at that point, it will be only a few degrees below our normal high for that point in mid-November. Weโve got good chances of rain for the second half of Saturday and much of the day on Sunday. Even though the chances cover a lot of the weekend, we will be more dry than wet. Hunters may get a dry morning in Sunday before rain chances increase.

Expect mostly sunny skies both today and Sunday, with highs of 70 degrees (21 degrees Celsius) both days. Saturday nightโs low will be in the mid 40s to near 50 degrees (8 to 10 degrees Celsius). Mostly clear Sunday night, with lows in the low 50s (10 to 11 degrees Celsius). Temps will probably drop into the mid 50s (13 degrees Celsius) and hold steady until after the front comes through.
Metro Detroit weather: Weekend warmth could challenge century-long records
Unique warmthDespite the lack of sunshine, we still ended Thursday with temperatures around 10 degrees above normal. The weekend will bring even warmer numbers that will be within striking distance of records that have stood for more than a century. On Saturday, weโll be very close to the record high of 70 degrees from 1916. On Sunday, weโll be within a degree of the record high of 71 degrees from 1915. Monday will be slightly warmer, but the record is further away.
Two movies to check out before Halloween
Movie reviewer Greg Russell shared his thoughts on two of this weekโs recent releases, Netflixโs Hubie Halloween and Clouds on Disney+. Adam Sandlerโs latest movie, Hubie Halloween, is set in Salem Massachusetts on Halloween night. Sandlerโs character Hubie, the town nerd, has to save his community by solving a murder case. Like yesterday, mostly sunny skies will be topped by a high-altitude layer of smoke from those western wildfires, creating a hazy layer that actually looks like a thick cirrostratus cloud deck. Lows in the low 50s (11 degrees Celsius). Mostly sunny on Wednesdayโฆpossibly more smokey sunshine, but perhaps less smoke than the first two days of the week due to the approaching cold frontโฆwith highs approaching 80 degrees (27 degrees Celsius). Lows in the upper 40s (9 degrees Celsius). Highs Thursday will only be in the mid 60s (19 degrees Celsius) under partly cloudy skies.
