A boil water advisory has been issued for Harsens Island after a water main break left residents without water for multiple days.

A water main break has caused a complete loss of running water to Harsens Island, officials said.

A video submitted by a Local 4 viewer shows a new angle of the massive fire earlier this week involving several Old Club houses on Harsens Island.

CLAY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Residents packed the Clay Township City Hall on Wednesday to voice concerns about Harsens Island flooding and ferry costs. Residents are also concerned about increased ferry prices. Neighbors were at the city hall for more than three hours. It’s the same people that own the Ambassador Bridge, and they’re looking into a possibility of a bridge span over to Harsens island," said Clay Township Supervisor Artie Bryson. When asked if that was a good idea, Bryson said, “The Clay Township stance is we just want any, a good, reliable and sustainable mode of transportation, to the island.”

Pedestrian traffic can now travel to and from the island, behicles were still stuck as they wait for the ferry service to be restored.

"This is the worst Ive ever seen it here," said John Burgdahl, whose property is flooded. The last time it was this bad on Harsens Island was back in 1986, and these water levels are breaking records. Theres not much they can do except hope the water goes down"It is just extremely stressful for me.

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Mich. - It is not only the homes on Harsens Island that are being jeopardized by the flooding there, businesses are also struggling with the issue. Ken Potter with High Standard Construction is trying to build a dam to prevent all this water from spilling over. With record high water levels, Potter says in many cases seawalls are too short and dredging permits take months to get approved. "Everyone is suffering, in some cases cant use their cottages because water is so high," said Potter. "We drained it nine times, nobody wants to get out with six inches of water," said Finley O'Shea with Walkers Landing.
