DETROIT โ An 18-year-old man turned himself in to police in connection with the fatal shooting of two sisters Friday on Detroitโs east side. Police said the man was wanted in connection with a fatal double-shooting at a home on Lantz Street, near John R. Street, just south of State Fair Avenue. DETROIT โ Police are searching for an 18-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of two women Friday on Detroitโs east side. Police said the victims -- 21-year-old Shaniya Todd and 18-year-old Shakiya Todd -- were sisters and were killed when a fight turned into a shooting. They said theyโre upset and confused, but hopeful that the information police released on the suspect could lead to an arrest. Police released a photo of a suspect wanted in connection with a Dec. 18, 2020 fatal shooting. Police said he shot and killed Shakiya Todd and her older sister, Shaniya Todd, who also is a young mother.

Dozens tear-gassed, arrested on Woodward Avenue amid Downtown Detroit protest
DETROIT โ More than 40 protesters were taken into custody Saturday night as they blocked off Woodward Avenue between John R. Street and Grand River Avenue. About 100 people gathered on Woodward Avenue in a protest against โOperation Legendโ -- an initiative established to address increasing gun and gang violence in cities across the U.S., including in Detroit. The group Detroit Will Breathe has expressed their opposition to the initiative, which brings additional federal agents to Detroit and other participating U.S. cities. Saturday nightโs protest in Downtown Detroit went smoothly, for the most part, until about midnight. A Detroit Police Department spokesperson said half of the people arrested were not from the city of Detroit.
Detroit police looking for missing 74-year-old man with medical condition
DETROIT Police are asking for help locating a missing 74-year-old man last seen Saturday morning. According to authorities, Napolean Jackson Jr. was last seen at about 11:30 a.m. in the 3900 block of John R. Street, just north of Mack Avenue. Jackson is 6 feet tall and weighs about 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants and tan and white gym shoes. He is reportedly in good physical condition but his family said he suffers from a medical condition.
