The crash reportedly happened about 3:30 p.m., leaving a stunning amount of corn strewn in the woods along the road. The truck was carrying 37 tons of corn, according to reports. The truck had flipped over on its side.

Michigan will hold its annual land auction this fall, offering more than 200 parcels of surplus land across the state. The parcels available for auction range from lake frontage to small lots. KALKASKA COUNTY, Mich. Michigan State Police troopers arrested a Gaylord man in Kalkaska Township early Wednesday morning for possession of a handgun and other charges. The driver was placed in Kalkaska County Jail and charged with possession of firearms by a felon, possession of ammunition by a felon, open intoxicants in a vehicle and unlawful use of a license plate. KALKASKA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Michigan couple was killed after going back into their burning home to try and rescue their pets. The fire was reported in Kalkaska Township early Thursday morning, just after midnight, WPBN reports. The initial call reported that the two people inside had gotten out of the house and were outside. But when crews arrived, the two people had re-entered the home to try and rescue their pets, police told WPBN. The couple was identified as Brian William Curry, 56, and Sheryl Renee Curry, 56.

A federal appeals court says Greg Somers and Mark Uribe don't have immunity. They worked for the state police and had key roles in the interrogation of Jamie Peterson. Peterson was convicted in the 1996 rape and slaying of Geraldine Montgomery in Kalkaska County. The appeals court said Thursday that Kalkaska County and former Sheriff David Israel have immunity in the lawsuit.
