WASHINGTON โ With an impeachment vote expected Saturday afternoon a report detailing a phone call with former president Donald Trump and a top Republican about the Capitol rioters has emerged. There is new information about a phone call involving Trump during the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol. CNN is reporting House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy called Trump while the Captiol was under attack and begged him to publicly call on the rioters to stand down. Sources tell CNN the call turned into a shouting match with Trump saying the rioters cared more about the election than McCarthy did. That report was released as Trumpโs defense team took questions from senators on what the former president did to stop the attack.

DETROIT โ According to a report from the World Health Organization and United Nations Childrenโs Fund, 43 percent of schools around the world lacked basic access to hand washing facilities before the coronavirus pandemic. Hand washing is critical to keeping school students and staff safe during the pandemic. Findings of the report reveal around 818 million children lack basic hand washing facilities at their schools. Worldwide, more than 21 million people have been confirmed infected and over 771,000 have died, according to Johns Hopkins University. JHU reports more than 1.7 million have recovered in the U.S., with more than 5.3 million cases reported across the country.
Michigan reports no new COVID-19 deaths but adds 1,041 cases
DETROIT โ Michigan reported no new deaths from COVID-19 on Sunday, but added 1,041 new confirmed cases, health officials said. That rolled cases that should have been included in Saturday's total of 437 confirmed cases into Sunday's tally. Overall, the state has reported 78,019 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 6,149 deaths since the pandemic began. The death count was lower than Friday's count of 6,151 because state officials acknowledged corrections after reviewing information. Then on Saturday, 14 more deaths were reported, eight of which were discovered during a review of death certificates.
