The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park, which is 22 acres, will be transformed into an attractive public space with reconstruction that will work towards the Detroit Riverfront Conservancyโs goal of revitalizing the riverfront.
Detroit Riverfront named best riverwalk in America
DETROIT โ The Detroit Riverfront has been named the best riverwalk in America in USA Todayโs 10Best Readersโ Choice Travel Award Contest. The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy announced the news on Friday. โThe Detroit Riverfront is a very special place for our city and we are honored by this recognition,โ said Matt Cullen, board chairman of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. โEvery great city has a place where the entire community comes together,โ said Mark Wallace, president and CEO of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. Since March, use of the Detroit Riverwalk has increased 20 percent and Dequindre Cut usage has increased by 40 percent.
Seawall damage puts Detroit River at risk, city issues tickets that are not being paid
DETROIT โ The Local 4 Defenders discovered another Riverfront business operating with a long list of violations on their seawall. Last year, the Defenders exposed the unpermitted Riverfront business going on at Revere Dock, which ultimately resulted in a dock collapse, spilling contaminated soil into the Detroit River. Detroit Riverfront Conservancy hosting Friday fundraiser
DETROIT โ The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy is hosting a new physically-distant but socially-connected fundraiser, #BeingApartTogether, on Friday (Oct. 16). The fundraiser is a celebration of the role Detroit Riverfront parks play in the community. As part of the fundraiser, there will be a free virtual broadcast of musical performances by local artists along the riverfront. It will be available for the community to enjoy on the Detroit Riverfront Conservancyโs Facebook page. Supporters of the fundraiser will receive a package curated in partnership with Detroitโs own City Bird, which is filled with limited-edition riverfront items, locally-sourced gifts and unique activities.

A large boat struck the seawall guardrail overnight Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019 along the Detroit riverfront. DETROIT โ A large yacht struck the seawall guardrail overnight Tuesday along the Detroit riverfront. The rail was badly damaged along the Riverwalk near the Renaissance Center in Downtown Detroit. About 30 feet of dock was damaged, Detroit police said. The U.S. Coast Guard did catch up to the boat, named โValara VI,โ a little further up the Detroit River.
