Riverview student severely burned when market worker ignites lighter fluid dripping from backpack
A 17-year-old student from Riverview is being treated for severe burns after he went to a market during his lunch break and a worker ignited the lighter fluid that was dripping out of his saturated backpack, officials said.
Man charged after seen on video throwing dog down stairs at Riverview apartment
RIVERVIEW, Mich. โ Police said a man has been charged with animal neglect and cruelty after a Ring video showed him throwing a dog down a set of stairs inside a Riverview apartment building. According to the Riverview Police Department, the man, identified as Jacob McMillan, turned himself in and was arraigned on the misdemeanor charge Wednesday. On Nov. 10, officers received calls about the video -- posted on social media -- capturing a man throwing the pit bull in the Riverview Crossings apartment building. Police identified McMillan through witness reports. A detective on the case spoke with apartment management, who stated that McMillan did not live in the apartment.
Man starts coughing on Riverview officers, claiming he has COVID-19 during arrest
RIVERVIEW, Mich. โ An Allen Park man started coughing on Riverview officers and claiming he had COVID-19 while they tried to arrest him for squealing his tires and excessive noise, police said. Jerid Pardo, 30, of Allen Park, was pulled over Wednesday (Oct. 7) in Riverview for excessive noise and squealing his tires, according to authorities. During the traffic stop, Riverview officers said they realized Pardoโs license was suspended, so he was arrested. Police needed Pardoโs keys to tow the car, but while they retrieved the keys, Pardo started resisting arrest, according to officials. Officers got control of Pardo, but he started actively coughing on both officers and claiming he was infected with COVID-19, police said.
Riverview under citywide boil water order
RIVERVIEW, Mich. โ The city of Riverview is under a boil water order until further notice while it experiences a water shutoff. Hereโs a statement from the city:โThe city is currently experiencing a city-wide water shutoff from GLWA due to a valve replacement project. We are working with GLWA to get the water turned back on.โRiverview police said the city is under a boil water order until further notice. Water service is restored however this caused the city of Riverview to need to issue a boil water advisory. It is expected that this boil water advisory will last 48 hours so that sampling can be done to ensure water quality.
