Warren announces hiring of new police commissioner, Eric Hawkins
The city of Warren has appointed Eric Hawkins as its new police commissioner, marking him as the first African American to hold the position. Hawkins, who previously served as police chief in Albany, New York, and had a long career with the Southfield Police Department, will begin his role in December. Known for his focus on community relations and crime reduction, Hawkins brings extensive experience and local knowledge to the third-largest city in Michigan. He replaces William Dwyer, who served nearly nine years before stepping down in March.
