Funeral held for Michigan State Police officer Daniel Kerstetter

Michigan State Police officer Daniel Kerstetter, who joined the force in January 2023, was conducting a traffic stop on I-75 in Lincoln Park on Sept. 13 when his vehicle was struck by another car, resulting in the death of the other driver and leaving Kerstetter critically injured. He was taken off life support on Sept. 15, and his organs were donated per his wishes. Funeral services on Sept. 20 were attended by hundreds of MSP troopers, and flags were lowered across Michigan in his honor. The incident has prompted renewed reminders from the Michigan State Police about the state's Move Over law.
