Michigan EMS owed $6M by Department of Corrections contractors

Tags: michigan, news, ems

Lapeer County EMS is one of over two dozen Michigan EMS providers awaiting payment for prison transport services, due to a third-party contractor not paying despite MDOC's claims of having disbursed funds. The financial strain has forced some agencies to reduce coverage and delay equipment replacement, with the total owed amounting to six million dollars. While the Attorney General's lawsuit against the contractor could take years, some lawmakers urge immediate legislative action to address the issue and ensure EMS providers can continue operating effectively.
